Sharing care with your partner and caregivers

One baby, one record. How to split night shifts, chores and information without guessing games.

The problem is not who is more tired

In the first months, couples’ conflicts are rarely about love; they are about information: “When did she last feed?” “Has he had his medicine?” “Who changed the diaper?”. When two people (or more, with a grandmother and a nanny) care for one baby, each sees only their own slice of the day.

One shared record

Invite your partner and caregivers to the family in JejakSiKecil via Akun → Keluarga → Tambah Pengasuh. Every member can log and see the same entries live; who logged it is shown on each entry. The only records kept private are your own pregnancy and postpartum notes.

Habits that help:

  • Log as it happens, not later. Start the feed and pump timers when you begin; 3 a.m. memory is unreliable.
  • Always log medication with time and dose. This prevents double doses during shift changes.
  • Check Catat before asking. The “Last feeding” card answers the most common question without waking whoever just fell asleep.

Splitting the night

What works for many families: split the night into two blocks (say 21:00 to 02:00 and 02:00 to 07:00) so each adult gets 4 to 5 consecutive hours, unbroken sleep restores far more than the same total in fragments. A breastfeeding mother can pump for her partner’s block, or the partner handles diapers, soothing and resettling after the feed.

Nannies and grandparents

Agree on the non-negotiables (back to sleep, no honey under one year, medication schedule) and let go of the rest (bath order, soap brand). A caregiver given access to the record feels trusted and tends to log more diligently.

Looking after the relationship

Fifteen minutes together without talking about the baby every day sounds trivial, but it is what separates a team from two exhausted people side by side.
