Strained rice porridge with chicken and carrot

A complete first menu: carbohydrate, animal protein, fat and vegetable in one smooth bowl.

Published

The opening menu paediatricians recommend most often. Chicken supplies protein and iron, carrot adds colour and vitamin A, and coconut oil brings the energy a 6-month-old needs.

Texture: thick strained porridge, it should not drip when the spoon is tilted. Loosen with broth a little at a time if too stiff.

Tip: cook 2 to 3 portions at once, refrigerate in small containers for up to 24 hours or freeze for a week. Reheat until steaming, then cool before feeding.
